NEWS: Update 1.2.1 hotfix now available for X³: Terran Conflict

Post by BurnIt! » Thu, 30. Oct 08, 17:29

Rather than keep you waiting for the full set of fixes and enhancements planned for the next full patch, we have made a 1.2.1. hotfix available which addresses a performance issue that increased over time. A number of other small fixes are also included in this patch, but fixes to the plot and other missions require further testing and will be released in the 1.3 patch which we plan to deliver as soon possible.

As always you can find the update in our download section.

Attention: This update is not compatible with the Steam-version of X3TC! The Steam-client will automatically downloaded the updated files.

Will this improve performance on current saves, or only reduce the degredation on new ones?

The hotfix will correct the specific problem it addresses in savegames as well as in new games, so assuming your slowdown is caused by that problem, it should be fine.

Very nice. Any chance of a list of what's been fixed, or are they not worth mentioning?

And what exactly was it making the game slow down over time? I've heard it's an increasing over-abundance of ships being spawned, all crashing into eachother and causing lag.

Looking forward to 1.3.

Er, scroll up this thread slightly. ;)

No, it was related to the playback of cutscenes such as warp tunnel animations.

Is the Steam update live? I've tried closing and reopening Steam, and validating the TC files numerous times.

Nowt is being downloaded. :(

I'm gonna try this out now. My game was pausing for about 20 seconds for no apparent reason, even with lower settings. Fingers crossed this will work.

Sounds great!

Any news on when the update will be available on Steam?

Apparently Steam recons the last update to the game was Dec 31 1969, bout same time the graphics engine came out I guess. ;)

Nice work guys, releasing another small fix for the majority of the ingame scripts would be great if possible.

The nature of the hotfix didn't leave much time for planning ahead so we opted not to waste too much time to attempt to achieve a coordinated launch for the update.

The work-day for the Steam guys started just about the time we decided "alright, this is it, ready for release" - expect the update within the next few hours.
