The Last Arclite

Chapter 6

Rostville Oregon

1415 hours

Hazzard, Hollow and Kinovi all dove into back storage garage of the gun store. As bullets ricocheted on the walls around them from the fire the twelve Black-Tech soldiers were dishing out. One hit Hazzard in his shoulder plate but the impact wasn’t enough to make it go through all the way.

Hazzard grabbed it and pulled it out, the tip of the hollow point was crushed and there was blood on the tip of it. Apparently, it had just enough velocity left in it to graze Hazzard.

Kinovi turned towards Hazzard.

“Hybrids, you bulletproof?” Kinovi started smiling

“Depending on the bullet and the velocity it travels, we can easily recover…” Hazzard answered even though he already knew what he had in mind

Hazzard made to get up, but Hollow stopped him.

“No you’re not going to go lone ranger on me; my primary objective is to keep you safe”

“No disrespect lieutenant but I don’t think staying in storage room with bullets riddling the floor very safe”

Hollow tapped a button on his wrist, it started glowing on and off with a red glow.

Hazzard stared at it

“Locator?”

“Yea hopefully if there are any syndicate forces in the area they can send some help, right now we are getting the hell out of here, Kinovi charge”

“Finally, I was getting tired of the peaceful mood” He said it just as a few bullets blasted the floor around him, although he seemed unaffected.

Kinovi slid on the wall towards the end of his cover inside the storage garage. He extracted a small silver canister with a red, blue and yellow button on it. He hit the red one and tossed it momentarily leaving his hand out of cover.

*Splat*

Blood sprayed out and hit the floor in a bunch of little red dotted areas.

“Pieces of s***! Go!”

All three of them started running into the main room passing the dead soldiers, Inferno’s and Simon’s bodies.

*BOOM*

The explosion shook the building filling it with momentary blinding flame, then smoke and dust. It took a few seconds before the tremor of the explosion actually subsided.

Kinovi got up quickly and slumped against the counter. One of the ricocheting bullets had grazed Kinovi’s hand. Blood covered his black leather gloves. He quickly extracted a small baggy from his breast pocket and ripped off the top revealing a white powder. He then just emptied the bag on his wound and he clenched his teeth.

“Get into the hummer!” Yelled Hollow

All three then started running towards the Hummer, and suddenly more gunfire erupted as they were only halfway across the street. Hazzard grabbed Hollow and Kinovi and threw them across about 30ft.

There was only 1 Black-Tech soldier by himself on the top of the building overlooking the parking lot. The same one that had provided cover for the others as they exited the roof.

The civilians were long gone and the streets only filled with a hybrid, and two Syndicate soldiers, and one lone Black-Tech soldier on the roof.

He then jumped a clear 20ft forward towards the building, bullets still riddling the ground around him.

‘This is going to me a long day’ he thought

“Hollow!”

Hollow got up from being thrown and looked up to see Hazzard directly under the building, it was made out of brick and steel except the top which was made out of cement, it was a clear 30ft two story building.

Kinovi had also just gotten up and now both were looking on.

Both of them had dropped their rifles after being thrown and now only had there handguns with them.

“Kinovi, take him out”

They both took out their handguns, Hollow his DES and Kinovi his Berretta MKII. They unleashed a torrent of fire; despite they were only semi-automatic guns. The sounds of Kinovi’s Berretta drowned out by Hollow’s DES, it was like hearing a cat whine then a lion roar.

The lone Black-Tech soldier responded instantly and started firing back, a little too late. His shoulder and chest sprayed out a sick fountain of blood as he fell back.

He slumped back and lay their in his own blood. The Hazzard, Hollow, and Kinovi never saw him mutter his last words, never saw him cough blood onto a remote control, never saw him push a series of buttons. They never saw the 9x5 metal container sitting behind him. Most important they never saw a single massive goliath awaken.

A hummer pulled up with a Syndicate insignia on the driver door.

Eight fully battle dressed Syndicate soldiers came out of the hummer. One of the soldiers started walking towards Hollow, probably the leader.

“We got your distress call, what’s the situation?”

Hollow looked relieved for a second “We came across some Black-Tech soldiers, it looks like a ambush, there’s probably a few more inside you sho-“

Just then a deafening roar of Minigun fire erupted, blue tracer bullets blew right threw the Syndicate soldiers, sending some backwards convulsing, others just convulsed. One of the Syndicate soldiers head just exploded. The leader never even knew what hit him, he was riddle with bullets along his right side as he was facing Hollow. The hummer containing the last of the new Syndicate soldiers exploded, sending fragments of metal everywhere, the whole hummer went up into the air and landed on its side and then the other until it landed normally, or as normal as a blown up hummer could land.

Hollow looked up and saw the lone goliath holding a massive Minigun which was somewhat dwarfed by the 8ft stature of this mechanical beast. At the sight he crouched down, Kinovi did the same.

“Pieces of S*** I dislike such machines” Kinovi spat “Reckless things”

Hollow looked around the side of the hummer just in time to see Hazzard ready himself to jump onto the roof.

‘Why cant machines go back to making car’s or flushing toilets or something’ Hazzard thought as he jumped.

Hazzard jumped a full 30ft in the air, just reaching the edge of the roof. He didn’t stop there as soon as he reached it he used both his hands to jump up the massive strength from his arms sending him another 10ft in the air right over the goliath.

It was a showdown, Hollow didn’t want to miss it and apparently neither did Kinovi as they were both straining to look up on the roof.

Hazzard kicked the massive goliath in the back sending it a minor two steps forward as it regained its balance. The goliath let go of the Minigun as it fell the 30ft and landed on the asphalt. It turned and let out a punch the sound of a hydraulic *whoosh* was heard. Hazzard ducked it and let out his own, landing it square into the goliaths chest. Hazzard left a small crater like dent into the goliath.

Then the goliath grabbed Hazzard with its two huge mechanical arms and lifted him from his waist, head facing the goliath legs outward. The goliath tossed him off the roof backwards.

Hazzard went a full 50ft in the air, 30ft of the roof and a extra 20ft from the throw. Hazzard landed and within the same second the goliath came crashing down on him.

Everything slowed down… Hazzard barely rolled out of the way, and the goliath and stuck one of its huge scythes into the street. Pieces of the street floating up into the air out of the crater like hole the goliath had just made. Gas escaping from the hydraulic shoulder releasing pressure.

Time went back to normal.

Hazzard side kicked make one of the goliaths legs kick forward, it didn’t lose its balance though

‘Damnit’ he thought

Hazzard got back on his feet and looked at the goliaths scythe.

‘Maybe I can rip that thing off and impale it through its head’

Hazzard moved backwards as the Goliath unleashed a few punches with its deadly scythe barely missing Hazzard.

Then it happened very quickly the goliath punched again and Hazzard stepped into it and brought down his elbow with massive force on the goliaths connection between mid arm and forearm. Snapping it, he then twisted it and kicked off the goliath both went backwards. Hazzard with his newly obtained arm/ scythe and goliath with circuits spraying shocks from its left arm.

Then Hazzard took out his DES in his left and the Scythe in his right, charging at the goliath. He fired a few rounds at its head, which barely did much damage until he hit it in the two eye pieces. Knocking out its visual feed, he then jumped in the air and jammed the scythe right through its head. It was a perfect synchronization of movement.

The goliath stepped back and came down to its knees, sparks flying from its head and arm. Then it just crashed on the ground, shaking it a little.

“Nice…” Said Hollow apparently impressed.

Hollow had started the hummer while Kinovi got up on the back turret.

Hazzard started running towards the hummer, right as Kinovi turned the turret machine gun towards Hazzard. Hazzard stopped in his tracks and stared at Kinovi.

The sound of the gun was enormous and so was the kick, like a miniature cannon each exploded outwards defiantly.

Just like that he went down, his body riddled with huge holes. Gasping for air, there was none, for his lungs were already drowning in blood.

That’s when Hazzard turned around to see three Black-Tech soldiers charging out of the front entrance of the gun store. One was on the floor convulsing, the other two guns up and firing trying to avoid the fire from Kinovi.

Hollow poked his head out the window “Get in!”

hand to hand with a mech of thoughts. nice. and still the people keep coming.

Haha yea.

I like the idea of "Man" vs Machine
But since man cant Hand-to-Hand it with a machine why not just get a hybrid.

As for the amount of people.

They just want Hazzard dead .

Quite a fierce battle! For a while it looked like they had made it. The last sentence had me puzzled. Initially I thought Kinovi had made a sieve of Hazzard there, i.e. being double agent. But with the newly arrived soldiers, I assume Kinovi didn't survive it. They sure want Hazzard dead.

Looking forward to the next chapter.

Ohhh

Well from hazzards point of view he thought he was about to be shot by kinovi.

But kinovi saved hazzard by shotting some soldiers that were coming out of the gun store
