Ship/Factory 3D Models and Stats Viewer version 1.1.1.6 (spoiler?) NEW VER. APR 07

Post by Deleted User » Wed, 17. May 06, 00:48

For the current version (X2, X3:Reunion & X3:Terran conflict)
please visit the thread:
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=2765992

Ship/Factory 3D Models and Stats Viewer (spoiler?)

'X Models 3D Viewer.exe' version 1.1.1.6

for any version of X3 or X2.

This is a guide utility program to let you visually compare all 'known' ships

Physically appearance (3D animation)
Performance statistics
Weapon configuration

and for factories :

Physically appearance (3D animation)
Production statistics

(also it will view most other models in the game if you have 'extracted' them).

The program reads the game files directly,
(but can also read 'extracted' files)

You can compare ships / factories from the initial install set with
any mods you have installed (whether or not they are 'activated')

The installation includes a help document with full instructions.

Download is 2.7 MBytes:
http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/XModels3DVi ... .1.1.6.exe

also here is a zip file of the same, since I think same firewalls veto downloading of exe files
http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/XModels3DVi ... .1.1.6.zip

Also there are infrequent 'hot fix's (just an updated .exe file),
the latest one v1.1.2.3 is a fix to do with the XFP & XTM mods, and HQ SprayShop support, and can be found on the post one down from :

http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... 64#2142764

Installation:
The installer will ask you to browse to your X3 or X2 directory, where it will put the 5 files, then it
will put an link in 'All Programs' in the Start menu for both the program and the help file
(Word2000, viewable with Wordpad.exe).

There are no extra needed DLLs etc, they are all included in the install.

You can install into multiple X3/X2 installation directories, but the link is to the latest install.
There is now an uninstaller included.

If you have any Scripting/Modding type posts/questions, there is a separate linked thread on the S&M forum for this purpose.
http://forum2.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=1664751
This is to avoid getting this whole thread moved to that forum, thanks.

Please tell me if you see any errors,
or if you have any suggestions for further features.

Many thanks to doubleshadow for his brilliant X3Editor program(s) and extraction routines,
without which I couldn't have got started on this!

And thanks to Merroc for all the factory stats.

You don't need to put the extracted files anywhere special,
just put them all in one directory.

I'm sorry but I can't quite make out the text on the jpg file
in your link, could you re-capture it / re-link it with less jpg
compression (or link to a .bmp file)
Edit: Or just type the text into your post.

OK
this is a direct X dll problem, have you got DirectX 9.0c installed?

I've written the program using the latest version (not 10.0),

Edit: got to go back to work now, catch up with you later

What you can do is copy d3dx9_29.dll out of your system32 dir, rename it to d3dx9d_29.dll and place it next to your exe for the simulator.

I had the problem, now it works fine for me.

The program is a release build & shouldn't be linking to this dll at all.

Renaming & moving dlls like that is somewhat dodgy, but if it works & its
a temporary fix - what the hell.

I'll sort this out when I get home this evening, untill then,
(unless you want to try the dll work-around) there's not a lot
of point in downloading the program.

Sorry about this, I'll get it fixed soon!

Dont move the dll u spanner  copy it to the folder with Dave's program in, then rename the copy.

That way only Dave's program will search the local folder structure for the file, otherwise you risk breaking DirectX if u bugger about with System32.

Its good isn't it?
