Update 1.4.03 for X³: Reunion is now available for download

Post by CBJ » Tue, 11. Apr 06, 13:38

The 1.4.03 update for X³: Reunion fixes a number of issues in 1.4 and earlier versions, and two specific problems that some people were experiencing in 1.4.02. It also provides improved support for widescreen resolutions.

Enhancements in 1.4.02:
  • Support for widescreen resolutions has been improved, aspect ratio corrected.
Fixes in 1.4.02:
  • Certain crashes related to loading savegames have been resolved (some savegames from version 1.3.02 BETA might no longer be compatible with 1.4.03).
  • A crash that appeared when adding a new station to a specific complex configuration has been resolved and complex building routines have been adapted.
  • A crash that appeared under Win98/Win2000 when firing weapons has been resolved.
  • A crash when starting the game on older CPUs (Athlon, C3) has been resolved.
  • Issues with older ATI graphics card drivers (pre cat6.3) and medium shader settings that resulted in videos being played back as a white screen have been resolved.
  • Some textures have been improved to reduce the "see-through" effect (e.g. planets could be seen through certain pixels at the border of otherwise solid objects).
  • Improved installation of Windows Media Codecs under Windows 98 / 2000 (the default installation sometimes did not complete the setup process).
Additional Fixes in 1.4.03:
  • Problem with audio playback during mission briefings has been resolved.
  • Shaking of ships when flying further away from the sector centre has been fixed.
Note 1: Savegame compatibility is maintained from all previous publicly released versions to 1.4.02 (including 1.4.1 BETA 1 and 2) but it is possible that certain savegames made using 1.3.02 BETA may no longer work.

Note 2: When running 1.4.03 the initial options menu will show 1.4.03 in the top-right corner, but the main in-game menu will still show 1.4.02. This is normal.

Another patch, very kewl. Now if I only had time to play. That is the one drawback from having other platforms to play on :) , no spare time left. Anyways, thanks for the update.

Thanks for the patch! 1.4 was very good and gave me no troubles, but the widescreen support from this one will make me happy!

Excuse me appearing ungrateful, but as one who never had any ctd issues, when can we expect Egosoft to fix the GAMEPLAY issues ?

The only sign that they even know there are any was a betatester asking about the 1.4 vanishing ships bug, but not appearing to go so far as confirm there was a problem.

There are major gameplay issues that are either bugs, or just not properly implemented features, that everyone has been talking about since the game was released, and apart from a few afterthoughts in the 1.3betas that went into 1.4, nothing has been seen so far to indicate that Egosoft is even interested in identifying these issues, let alone solving them.

It would be nice to see some action on these at long last.

I must agree with the above post.
One of the biggest issues still is the bartering system.
Once you progress past a certain rank you can no longer use it whatsoever!

I wasnt even aware of that one. The only bartering I tried, they told me my rank wasnt high enough and I gave them the finger and never bothered again.

Well, I just flew through Tkr's Deprivation and it looked gorgeous, they have definately implemented some new graphics features and the difference is noticeable... expecially on my under-powered machine.

Ok. It's fine.

Issues with older ATI graphics card drivers (pre cat6.3) and medium shader settings that resulted in videos being played back as a white screen have been resolved.

In 1.5 return in original game cockpit!

Cool, cheers ES. Can't say there's anything in this patch that I really want/need, but I figure I'll get it tonight anyway (just in case the complex building bug ever bites me in the butt).

Thanks for your continued support of this wonderful game.

And I hope to any omnipotent being that this solves all the remaining problems some people have with playing the game. Good luck everybody.

I think you will notice a better behavior of Uts. Only problem as of the lsat beta patch is they get clogged up inventory. I hope that was resolved with this patch I am about to find out :D
There seems to be a major reduction in suicide ships and mysterious dead ships. I may just be lucky though.

Is this classed as a Beta release or can we migrate over safe in the knowledge that savegames (except 1.3.02) will be compatible with future releases?
I love the constant improvements but if compatability is an issue then I would rather wait until 1.5 is announced.
BTW 1.4 is almost rock solid but ended up with a CTD in Split Fire :o when trying to re-enter my Nova after capping a Pirate Falcon - thank god for autosave in stations
