A threat beyond the horizon....

THE PROLOGUE

It has been more than four jazura since the great war against the Kha'ak ended. The deathtoll it left in its wake was devastating, millions lost their lives in that brutal campaign. From the battle of Omicron Lyrae in 764 when more than 50,000 Argon pilots heroicly lost their lives that day, to the attack on Argon Prime in which nearly a million died.

One thing was for certain, the consequences the Kha'ak left behind would be felt for a very long time.

No one truly knows where the Kha'ak disappeared to after the battle of Heretics End, the fateful battle that would reunite the X-universe with the long lost Terran race and the planet called Earth, which was a myth to the Argon for 700 years. Many claim that the Kha'ak could no longer sustain their species due to the devastating depletion of the mineral Nividium, which they used to build their complex hive systems in large asteroid belts, and thus faced a mass extinction. Others claim that the Kha'ak travelled deeper into unknown territory to find a new source of Nividium to save their species from eventual extinction.

But whatever their fate may have been, and wherever they may travel now, the X-universe sure hopes that they stay there and never return to terrorize the galaxy again.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a species that lies far beyond the known sectors, a species so ancient that they may have existed before the majority of stars came to be in this galaxy.

These incredibly advanced people were called the Old Ones. For 5 billion years they have been travelling many galaxies, seeking to advance themselves and to help the indigenous life forms they came across throughout their endless journey. The Boron were witnesses to these travellers more than 50,000 years ago, they called them the "Helpers".

The Old Ones spent 4 billion years advancing and perfecting their technology and their knowledge of creation. They, at one time, used Jumpdrives similar to the ones we use now. Through the many thousands of years following, they advanced their Jumpdrive technology, eventually developing a method in which they could travel using an unlimited source of energy, by drawing upon the endless energy of Sub-Space.

500 million years ago, the first completely mechanical species was created by the Old Ones, they were called the "Sohnen". In their endless journey's to discover more lifeforms, they had little time to govern their vast control of space. They needed something which could do these tasks for them, and so the Sohnen were created to rectify this problem, they were also promoted to executive members to act as the controlling factor in the Old Ones frequent absences. The Sohnen also seemed to have to ability to reproduce, despite them being mechanized.

84 Million years ago, a Sohnen named Tarwoq gave birth to her new child, Sargon. Sargon's father had been killed 8 months before his birth when an entire cluster of stars went nova, his father made the decision of sacrificing himself in order to save Tarwoq and her unborn child.

His mother told him stories of his fathers selfless act of bravery, Sargon remembered this, and still holds his father in the highest of honor to this day.

Sargon's younger years involved him being taught the ways of governing, he was expected to succeed his mother one day and become an executive member of the old ones, like all Sohnen eventually do.

His mother's death is clouded in mystery, but Sargon remembers the pain and anger he felt. Ships of unknown origin attacked his mothers vessel, destroying it and killing her in the process. He tried to thwart off the ships, but to no avail, there were far too many of them....there was nothing he could do to stop this. He remembered looking at the fleet of ships that surrounded his helpless mother as they mercilessly slayed her. He recognized these ships, he had heard about them in many stories about an ancient war.

This species was a menace to the Old Ones and the universe billions of years before. According to legend, they were a species originating from outside the known universe, the Old Ones called them the "Outsiders".
Sargon shaking and quivering in shock from the death of his mother, quickly called for support from the Sohnen to eliminate this fleet.

But it was too late, the Outsiders had activated their advanced jumpdrives and jumped into the unknown. Luckily, the Sohnen were able to track the energy signature, using it as a beacon to determine their destination as the fleet travelled through sub-space.

Their destination.....a Spiral Galaxy many millions of lightyears away, a medium sized galaxy no greater than 100,000 lightyears from end to end, it was a Galaxy of many developing species, species which could one day have great potential in the universe.....the Outsiders had to be stopped.

Good read. A bit different due to the percpective from the Sohnen, but a very good start.

Did notice this....'He tried to thwart off the ships, but to no avail, there were far too many of them....'

Should that be 'He tried to fight off the ships' or 'He tried to thwart the ships'?

:D

Good start. Indeed a different approach to the Sohnen.

Looking forward to the next chapter.
