[AL Plugin] Convoys

Detailed description:
Installing this plugin will setup two types of convoy mission, the first is to attack and capture a convoy leader and the second is to defend a convoy.

1. Capture convoy leader

You will be offered the opportunity to capture and enemy convoy leader by factory BBS, these are usually based broadly on the races friend foe settings ingame (Argon offer Paranid caps and visa versa, Boron -Split ect) and also there is a slight chance that the convoy will be of pirate variety for all you notoriety faries who don't want to lose any.

The Teladi offer mainly pirate missions though and soon will also be yaki convoys.

Your rank starts at "useless" and with each cap successfully returned to the offering station you gain one point. As you points grow your ranks grow and bigger convoys come with bigger ranks.

There will also be a small chance that the convoy will be a much higher rank than you have currently and another low chance offer is an upfront payment for a cap which pays out depending on your rank for this plugin.

If one of these missions is offered no matter how few or many ships you kill or protect or the distance travelled is relevant you get the initial offer price. You will need to be at or above the rank the offer is placed at to accet though

Under normal conditions a payout is based on both your plugin rank, your ingame fight rank and also the amount of kills you or your ships make.

Once completed and the pilot has been returned to the station you will be offered 3 options. A cash payout, A notoriety boost or a percentage cut in thats stations profits for a while.

You are free to do as you please with other convoy ships and their wares


2. Protect Convoy.

On all factory types BBS newsboards will be offers to protect a convoy. Using a different set of plugin ranks the offer increases very much as above but payouts here depend on distance travelled, ingame trade rank, kills and convoy size. For every trade ship in the convoy your killcounter is reset and there is also the chance the offer will be an upfront payment where convoy size and distance is irrelevant.

You will need to be at or above the rank the offer is placed at to accept though.

Convoys will gain enemy interest and if you have played escort you'll have some idea on whats incoming although there is no need to keep close to the fleet anymore.

With both missions failure = rank loss and when starting out you will only be trusted with a few ts or tp ships but as your notoriety increases the convoys will


This script is still a BETA because there are that many scenario's to test in convoy size- distance and ranks and also kills that I need major feedback on payout.

1. How far did you travel
2. What were your ranks both ingame and with the plugin ranks
3. How many kills did you or your ships make
4. What was the consitution of the convoy.

If you can give me info on these four i can balance the payouts.

Hello.

I am working on script pack that already has a lot of interesting development like colored names for player company [facrories] , player's military vessels, couple interesting player’s military command with pilot’s rank system and etcetera. With author permission, I would like to adapt this script. What do you think?

How frequent are these convoy missions as I havn't seen any yet on the BBS.

they are pretty frequent keep stion hopping, if i get more peeps saying they cant find them i'll up the offer rate but it should be ok atm

Thanks LV but do they turn up in Equip Docks and SYs as well, because I'm commanding around in a Cap ship.

Well I'm sorry to say that I've still not seen any BBS convoy missions.

I presume they are valid for all player ship types and are posted in all station types.

All i can say is i'm running the same scripts with the same priorities as you and i get loads of offers in my centaur

If you want to increase the offer rate (which you should not need to) find the following line in these scripts

quest.convoy.lv

Code: Select all

055    return 55
quest.convoy.protect.lv

Code: Select all

055    return 60
change them to 100 or even 1000 and you won't be short of offers :)

I don't think I've seen a single offer. I've only seen one convoy (pirate convoy in Ceo's Doubt). I wiped it out and got a message tho.


Maybe I'll re-install it.

Thanks LV but one shouldn't have to change anything. Even at the 55 and 60 level should be high enough to obtain missions.

How are they triggered? Does playership types have an effect for generating requests? I'm in a cap ship and have only access to EQDocks and SYs.

I have jumped to all the different race sectors, Have docked at both EQDocks, SYs, no result. Have changed ships and docked at a variety of different stations and no results.

I logged more than 20 hours using your mod (among a variety of others) but never was I able to escort a convoy or attacking one.

Any sugestions?

Just out of interest, is this just a case of accept the mission or you wont see any convoys? Or do you randomly see varying size convoys anyways, as thats what I really wanted to see in the game was convoys of varying size just flying through space on whatever mission it may be, from simple single TS with several fighters for protection, to a few TS's and lots of fighter protection, to a military convoy with a couple of M2's (for example) and supporting M6/3/4/5's etc - That would be realistic and cool. And then to have the missions pop too from time to time.

Woah Im going on and on again, habit of mine when recovering from a days boozing like yesterday !

everything is currently on hold for me as i now not only have a broken right hand but also a broken HD, power supply and graphics card and can only access this forum for 30mins a day max at work if there are no other disruptions which of course there always are :|
