Updated.
Changes:
1) The upper limit on the time delay between raiding parties is now a little more relaxed and varies with the fighting rank of the player (the higher the rank, the lower the delay).
2) If a Trading Dock has a name which starts with "$" (dollar sign), it will not claim a sector (added for those who like to use Trading Docks for commerce, so they wouldn't suffer the penalties associated with claiming sectors, ie rading parties).

The script was too difficult. So I changed the following to balance it out:

1) Increased the time delay between raiding parties.
2) The distance from which rading parties come has been decreased to a number which depends on the fighting rank of the player (up to 4 sectors).
3) Gates are also claimed now.

If you vote low scores, please explian why so I can improve the script.

Please give feedback.

Thanks.

P.S. Just got over a major hurdle - capped X534, X596 and X597. Took something like 20 hours. It was hard but very satisfying in the end. Put a couple of M2s on the cleanup of little M/N buggers.
Next will go for the other 4 Xenon sectors, and pirates. Should be easy.
Then Khaak, wish me luck.
Maybe Paranids after that.

This is great. I can't wait to try it out. Almost there..lol..The only weakness I can see, and is not related to your script, is the lack of building shipyards. Wont be a problem until you get down to the absolute last race. Once you go to war with them your basically cut off from getting replacement ships but I suppose at that point there is no more money making anyways. lol.

Yes, you will find it instead under global script tasks.
Technically, it's not an AL plugin but it performs its functions.

If you want to stop it, don't kill it, use the uninstall script please. The uninstall script will correctly remove everything that needs to be removed (raiding parties, global variables) and reset any claimed sectors to their previous owners.

The first page of the script editor has an entry at the very bottom. I think it's called "Global Script Tasks" but I could be wrong. Any way, that's what it shows - any running tasks that aren't associated with an object.

Why not use the AL menu? It's what it's for!

Problem

Post by Under God » Tue, 10. Jan 06, 05:03

I really enjoyed this script acrh2.

I am having a small problem with it however.

I took over all eight pirate sectors east of Argon Prime space and stopped at Hatikvah's Faith. The issue now is that I have waves of Pirate Osprey's coming from somewhere south of Light of Heart.

The nearest Pirate sector is LooManckstrat's Legacy but that is 7 long jumps away from Hatikvah's Faith so it is more than the 4 Jump Limit.

It took the fleet (I am calling it a fleet because it is 3 Ospreys and 6 Falcons) a long time to reach me but... pitty to say it was a total suprise.

All I had in the system was a Centaur on patrol which wasn't quite fully upgraded. I was working on securing the rest of the systems from various other pirate threats and concidered Hatikvah more of a fringe red headed step child.

The war over these sectors was a pain in itself, costing millions to aquire what I desired fighting the pirates at warrior level combat.

Now don't get me wrong, I think it is pretty cool that the pirates finally retaliated succesfully and that I had to evacuate Nopileos Memorial with as many supplies as my ships could take while sending in the nearby patrols to hold off the pirate fleet while the main fleet was jumping in to protect my base.

But on the other hand, I really had not calculated this move by the pirates since they should have a 4 system attack range.

Is this just a fluke?

I am going to check if they are coming from unkown space (4 jumps) or pirate space (7 jumps).

Reasons for doing it my way in no particular order.
1) There seems to be no difference in functionality in what I'm doing with this script.
2) It easier. AL implementation would require quite a few more additional code lines that are not necessary but have to be there.
3) I think it should work SIGNIFICANTLY faster.
4) Gives me more control as a script writer.

The only real reason that I see for using AL plugins is to be able to use AL menu as opposed to, say, a command for temporarily disabling the script.

If you can convince me that AL is a better way, I will rewrite it in about 5 minutes. I'm all ears.

It may be a bug although I doubt it.
Did you uninstall previous versions before installing new ones?

Hey Acrh, I just destroyed the paranid station in split fire which is a pirate sector and I placed my trading station there, the sector did not change over to me though, I dont understand why not?

Pirate race by default is not a foe race. The script checks if the sector belongs to a foe race against the playership, and only then it switches the ownership.
You can set the foe status to Pirates from the Global Commands menu. After doing that, just wait until the ownership switches to your name and set it back to friend. Your Tading Dock will still get attacked by the raiding parties though.
If that doesn't help, there must be another station somewhere in the sector which you haven't found yet.

It seemed that I needed to destroy the navigation beacons.

The only reason I see that people would want it in AL is so that they can manually turn off the raiding parties if they so choose.

I like raiding parties... plenty of combat points.

and I cap lots of Yaki Falcons.

EDIT:
The raiding parties did seem to add up when I took three sectors realativly fast. Felt like a little too much.

Huh, didn't realize those were in the station class.
Would you like me to fix that, or should it be the way it is now?

I personally would prefer to leave it as is for speed considerations, because I am trying to keep the script as transparent as possible, and I have no way of testing how much of an impact it has on gameplay because of my beefy system.
However, I will do what the community desires.

I've been considering adding that functionality. But I think I'd want to do this through a command and use this "incoming question" method, with a number of options like 1) allow claiming by any station/trade dock, 2) uninstall option, 3) setting difficulty of raiding parties and jump distance, and any others I will come up with.

Any ideas from you guys on what I should add?

I don't think it really matters either way, it gave me the sector so, I dont really need the nav beacons.

I'm having a similar problem. I took over Xenon sector 347 and now it seems I'm getting wave after wave coming out of Xenon sector 472 coming at 3-4 minute intervals.
I did not uninstall the previous version however... Guess I'll see if that helps.
