cockpit mod
ok i will be the first to admit that i was very against not having cockpits. now that i have installed the cockpit mod[ and this mod is very very good and works very well] i am going back to the no cockpit view. i can not believe i am saying this ,but i like it better. i am not knocking the cockpit mod as it is perfect. in my case just goes to show that change is good. i feel like the no cockpit view is like looking through a giant window and i can see better. keep up the super work egosoft and you modders keep up your super work. all i am good at is playing the game, so i depend on you guys. thanks again for a super game.
why didn't u post this in the http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=105741 forum (about 10 posts down)
Thats a hijacked thread though. It wasn't originally about cockpits It was about features mentioned in the manual which aren't there. Im sure cockpits is not one of them.szuur wrote:why didn't u post this in the http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=105741 forum (about 10 posts down)
I was suspecting -and silently praying- that something like that would happen back when the original cockpits moster-thread was started. It's now more than obvious that Egosoft imported the X2 cockpits in the X3 engine for testing purposes and -for the allready and widely discussed reasons- disabled them. Thankfully (this is what I've been praying for) the whole cockpits scenes made it in the final X3 package, waiting for someone (Galaxy613 in our case) to bring them back on.Galaxy613 wrote:These cockpits were not taken from X2 directly, they were lying around in X3, so no copyright problems.Bazza wrote:so no copyright problems then? I dont have to own X2 to use these?
It took me about 3 days to stumble upon this thread and the mod
still,
Good job Galaxy613 for figuring this out

I don't know about copyright issues in this case. I'm pretty sensitive to try not to infringe on other poeples' stuff. However, I've never ever run a computer with X2 on it, but this mod definitely added the nice cockpits.Bazza wrote:so no copyright problems then? I dont have to own X2 to use these?
oh crap, forgot to put back the turret views! Download the 1.01 version because that puts the helmet cockpit back in. I'll get 1.02 up today with all the cockpit views, I can't believe I forgot them!
Heh, already done and uploaded, thank goodness for Metapad's Replace command!

Yeah! Great job, Galaxy613! Flying around in space just got a lot more fun. It sure looked like a waste of time on paper when it was explained by EgoSoft as to why they decided to turn off cockpits altogether, but now that I can try it out both ways, it certainly makes a difference. Unfortunately, this is just another example of having a feature removed that should have been turned into an option on a graphics menu. (just like the gate travel movies)

It would be better if/when I make a cockpit for each race's fighters, heck all the fighter cockpits might look the same for that race, but it'll make getting a different race's ship that much more intresting!BlackTrader wrote:WOW!! What a difference! I never played the X series before so i didn't have any problems with no cockpit....however after i installed the mod, what a difference! For me, It makes for a better playing experience.
Thanks and great job!

Unless I modify the Nova's BOD model and place the cockpit forward there is no way I can get rid of it. Sorry.deamoclese99 wrote:Great job!
One question... my Nova still has the nose part sticking out in front with the cockpit view and i find the nose is taking up too much room - the cockpit alone would be all I want... is there a way i can hide the nose part and just see the cockpit?
